Miracle At Bijli Mahadeva

The Bijli Mahadev temple is located opposite the Kulu town at an altitude
of 2435 meter from sea level on the banks of Vyas (Beas) river.
The access to the temple requires a 10 kilometer trek to reach to the top of the
Mathan hill. The temple provides a breathtaking panoramic view of both Kulu and
the Paravati vallies. A 20 meter high wooden pole stands in front of the temple
to seeking blessings from the sky in the form of lightning
which shatters the temples Shivlinga Ghat every twelve years
since time immemorial. The broken Shivlinga is then rebuilt by the temple
priest using butter as an adhesive. A special ceremony is performed to complete
this process.The devotees carry a Chariot of Bijli Mahadev where the deity is
taken out. The followers invokes his blessigs.
