Bhagwan Parashu Ram
by Anurag Sharma
Son of sage Jamadagni and Devi Renuka, Bhagwan Parashuram is the sixth of the
ten incarnations. He arrived at Earth on Akshaya Tritiya day to free it from the
dictators and the terrorists. Nephew of Sage Vishwamitra, he is one of the seven
divine personalities who are considered to be Chirjeevi or immortal. He is also
known as Bhargava Ram due to the fact that he was born in the clan of Sage
Bhrigu, one of the original Sapta Rishis.
He is considered to be the first Guru of the first
martial art of Kalari Payattu. Two bravest characters in Mahabharata war, Bhishma and Karna
learned the arts of war from Bhagwan Parashu Ram. He is also credited for extracting the
land from Goa to Kerala from the ocean and developing it for human inhabitat.
He is believed to confer Brahminhood to Desai communities due to their selfless
hard work for human upliftment.
Blind in his authoritative power, the king Sahasra Bahu killed Sage Jamadagni
and stole the Kamdhenu. Bhagwan Parashuram not only taught him a lesson, he
eliminated his entire clan to save the earth from the tyranny of the dictators.
